You need to go to Seaham SAC clubhouse and join up.. You get a pass and key for the pier gate, also covered by their insurance.. Usually around £30 for the year.. Hope this helpful mate..

Me and a mate were members for a year but gave up. Twice we were washed away by freak waves. It felt unsafe. Luckily nobody injured but gear went flying and so did my mate on his arse.

I joined for a year then wrapped in as I was sick of seeing people climbing up off the beach or around the gate. The gate security may have been beefed up since then.
                  Cheers.

Does anyone ever actually come round & check to see if people are members of SAC? Me & 2 mates have just joined, there should be some 'policing' if you pay £30 for the privilege.

Yes mate it does get policed when possible but not 24/7
And your £30 goes towards your insurance cover
£6 goes to the dock company £10 key hire plus
stationary costs for rule books + tide tables etc
It works out about 30 odd pence a week for the
privilege mate which I think is cheap.

I think £30 a year is reasonable as long as your'e not inundated with 'trespassers' who pay nowt, which is why I asked about policing. Got my membership pack & key etc, just can't wait for the opportunity to get up there!
Should make a change from the **** tip that Middleton pier is!!

Good lads down at Seaham club, they will help with anything and they are committed to making sure we have access to the piers, well worth the money imho.
