  • First ever Pollack

Fished the barrier at roker pier on tuesday. Couldn't get anywhere near the end because of all the part timers (macky bashers).
Fished my spinning rod with a float & ragworm on the hook & caught my first ever POLLACK. As you can see it had to be recorded for posterity.

On my main rod I also managed to catch my first ever lobster.
    All returned safely.

Going out in a boat on thursday for the first time in 35 years so I have got my Kwells, ginger biscuits & hopefully sea legs. Will try & remeber my camera & hopefully get some fish.
I will only be out for a couple of hours pet.

Dont want to be a party pooper but thats a small coalie and not a pollack, when pollack or that size they have a light brown back with orange spots and marks that stand out a mile, also the bottom jaw of thw pollack sticks out more than the coalie. 100% sure its a coalie.

Try Shields pier, had over 30 off there last year and 6 this year.

Id lay off the kwells and have 6 pints of guiness the night before and a full brekkie the next day. It worked for me in Ireland a couple of years ago when it ws as rough as a badgers and it still works now!

Looks like a Pollock to me. A Coalfish has a straight white lateral line. Maybe the photo is not clear enough because you can't make out the lateral line clearly enough or the jaw area.
