  • Sonik sk3

Evening all, does anyone fish with a sonic sk3? I've just got one to use off the piers and rock marks, haven't heard much about them but got it fairly cheap . I'm taking it out during the next week but just wanted to know your thoughts on them . Cheers in advance .

If you google sonik reviews And look at the numerous previous Nesa threads on the subject mate. Mixed reviews to say the least lol.

It looks and feels quality but I'll see how it goes with a 6oz lead and a Pulley rig with lug and squid on .

Have used them since they came on the market with no problems, I still own 2 of the 14ft 5-7oz, wouldn't put a 6oz with a big cod bait on, that's too close to its max.

Heard of far too many snapping over last couple years.. My mates snapped above the spigot on the lift (not snagged up) As wavy davy says don't overload it and a smooth cast will help too..

Thanks for the replies, thinking of going out for a few hours Saturday so I'll find out good or bad either way. I suppose every rod maker turns out a duff one now and again.

I had one and had no bother with it per se, but found it very lifeless (for want of a better word) casting. My mate had one and it snapped first time out under no load at all.
