  • Wader recommendation

Looking at getting a pair of new waders for the coming season as the old Ocean\'s are getting a bit snug arounfd the midriff.

Not wanting to go on a diet I had tought of getting some Snowbees as the offer waders in FB size.

I had tried some Daiwa neoprene thigh waders in Billy\'s at the weekend but couldn\'t get my foot in as it seemed to hang up on the neoprene. Probably managed to get my foot halfway into the boot part. It probably wasn\'t helped by the fact that I had jeans on also.

So the questions are, are neoprenes warm enought with just a pair of shorts on underneath or will I need trousers also and are the sock type and wading boots easier to get into?
As my dad used to say....Man who go to bed with itchy bum......wake up with stinky finger!!!

I found when neoprene waders are new they take a bit of getting on Ian. I would still rather have them than the rubber one\"s. I find they are very warm but I have never tried wearing them with just shorts on.

    Jim.
Remember, some people are alive simply because it is illegal to shoot them.

Can be worn with shorts Ian. I wear a fleece suit with cuffs on the legs (?) and pull me socks over the top, can be a bit of a fart on but just sit on your tackle box and yank.

Ian, Snowbee\'s website usually has neoprenes on offer.
"And I looked, and behold'a pale horse; and his name that sat on him was death, and hell followed with hi, and power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword and with hunger, and with the beasts of the earth"

Ian - I have the neoprene snowbees and they are excellent. (bought from Aunty Wainright) Never worn them just with shorts though. They do keep you warm and dry. If you get too warm - say from/after walking to your mark - you can roll them down to your waist to help cool off. I have also screwed in some of those stud things in the soles for extra grip on the rocks.

Ian I wear mine out sometimes, they\'re like a super all over corset. I wore a wet suit once and felt like a toned up surfer, saw the photos later though ........ must have been something wrong with the camera.

I\'d go along with Mike & Hedley.........Snowbee neoprenes......just the job.
Never just worn shorts under \'em, though.
A pair of thermal long johns or track suit bottoms (prefferably those with a stirup foot), are enough for me.......even in the depths of Winter. They don\'t \'arf keep ya warm......and like Hedley says, if you get too warm when walking to a mark, you can just roll the top down to ya waist.

Cheers lads.....studded felt sole or the cleated/combination type??

Which you reckon gives more grip on the rocks??

Billy I\'ll be down on Saturday to see if you got them Sundridge bib and brace so I\'ll see you about the Snowbees then.

                        Ian -

CLEATED SOLES will serve you well on the beach and if you\'re careful, will be just as adequate on rocks. Screw-in studs do add more grip.

FELT SOLES are great for wading over rocky river beds where many of the stones are smooth and maybe even have a bit of weed on them. Walk on wet grass or slushy mud with felt soles and you will slip all over the place.

NINJA SOLES are probably the best choice for sea anglers. Combining a hard rubber sole with a series of stainless steel spikes set into the rubber sole.

                        Hope this helps.
