had another trip 2 st marys yesterday me and me mate. got there 4 about 1ish went on the scear to the left of the light house looked nice wind was a bit strong but ok. first cast wasnt in the water 5min when bang the rod doubled straight in to first fish nice wrasse of around 3pound.later on me mate got another wrasse 4 around 1and a half pound.plenty or bites but nothing else.

Nice one Davie. I fancy a sunny afternoon on the island for a bit of float fishing sometime. What bait were you using?

well done mate fish there meself norm on float had wrasse an pollock, nothin very big like, still canny tho on a nice day with the seals popin up rite next to you somtimes get plagued by blennys and granny fish which starts to pi** you off!!

thanks. the only bait i use is rag on a 1/0 hook just cover the hook with the rag but not up the line.take plenty of sinkers lost about 15 the other day.good luck.

Cheers for the info Davie. It sounds like a good way to spend a sunny day. Just a light rod and a rucksack with some lures/bait etc instead of the usual tons of gear I'd take to beaches.
