  • The Mull

    Hi all,

Me & a few others will be going over the Mull of galloway 31st July for the weekend ( weather depending ) it has been about 5 years since the last time we were there. Can you still camp just off the road leading to the lighthouse I am sure there was a little rough track where we used to go down with the car & it was on the right hand side. Any advise would be helpful.

    Regards

    Gordon

Yes the farmer still allows camping at East Tarbet, not sure what he charges though. Its a ni ce enough bay but there are no facilities at all. My advive would be to book a pitch on the small campsite at the Clashwhannon Caravan Park - its where we have our caravan. The owner,Martin charges £6 a head per night but at least you have a toilet block and toilet facilities. There is also a pub on the site which does great meals.

Here is the link for it Home I will be over that weekend so I can give you up to date info on the fishing

Dunski castle is where i stay £7 per tent no matter how many in it last year per night.

Is a few more mile further to the mull but i think the fishing is better there anyway and less people.

Here you go,I dug out this picture of the camping area at the Clashwhannon Caravan Park,Drummore.

It is that area over the bridge. It will take about 5 medium sized tents. The end of the Mull is a 10 minute drive from there.

Steve if you come over with the wife will you be camping or hiring a caravan? We return there on 27th July and plan to stay there for a 4 week stint. I will have my bass blinkers on this time. It has been a very slow start to the bass season for most of us over there but I opened my acount with a 3lb fish two weeks ago. I took it on a 6" "Storm Sandeel",the fish was returned alive and well. The pollack and wrasse fishing is very good at the moment and some very large tope have been landed from "onyermarks" fishing charters.

Onyer Marks Sea Fishing Charters. Sea Angling For Tope And Pollack In The Irish Sea.

They have taken fish to 75lbs. Matthew Burrett was telling me that in his boat in a 5 day stint 96 tope were boated !!!!! Now that is fishing.
