I have fished the rocks a fair number of times but always with a light rod for freelining and floatfishing and while I have had a fair bit of success I was wondering what is the best area of the rocks to try the beachcaster and also if there are any patches where you are casting on to clean ground with a bit of depth to it?

if you go through the playgrund, over the hill where the white beacon is,straight ahead, climb down(cairn head)i think, and there is some good depth over there, not very snaggy, but you cant hold bottom in a big tide

Try Monreith beach Rab,its only five minutes down the road, its not mega deep but its worth a visit and its not too snaggy.

I think I know the exact bit of the beach you are talking about I have been down there at hightide and seen the fish! Only fished there once and caught a 3lb flounder though that was at low tide.
