The only option would be to close the pier, as putting a yearly fee on it or handing it to a club would mean round the clock policing. How many would you need to police it? One ballif to tackle three idiots????
Lets only hope that this is a roumor and not an actual incident.
If this has really happened then I hope the lad and is familly are ok and the three idiots who assaulted him get what they deserve.
As for the local police or authorities doing anything! Dont hold your beath!!!!!
As I have grown older, I've learned that pleasing everyone is impossible,
but P*****g everyone off is a piece of cake.

Gave up fishing piers in the summer years ago for exactly this reason. I go fishing to get away from the depressing part of our society, not to be reminded of it by dope smoking **** heads swearing & leaving crap all over. I never understood fishing with beachcasters & feathers for mackeral either, unless your wanting bait.
It will be a shame if the pier does close, simply as its a good spot for the less able bodied anglers to fish from.

I don't think the river blyth gets salmon running up it.
But if it's true then its a terrible thing, me and my mates fish it regular thru the winter......
It's a thin line that seperates an Angler from a madman standing on the beach in january at midnight in -5 degrees with a northerly wind blowing in your face

for those who think it may be a rumour beleive me it aint.the lad was assaulted by three blody idiots who give us lads a very bad name.spoke to another two salmon lads today the ones in the little black boat for those who fish there.they said the abuse they get by most on the pier is very annoying to say the least.first and formost is they catch salmon and sea-trout and not makerel granted the odd one get fast in the net but thats it.they have had several meetings regarding the abuse regarding anglers on the pier and now the step was over reached with the assault, yes its inn the hands of the police for those who may be thinking.and this sort of thing should not happen either shouting abuse or assault.one thing for sure is the pier could be closed for those anglers doing exactly what i have posted,i also spoke to different lads coming off the pier to see if the fishing was any good and guess what the answer was no the lads with the nets are catching the lot, well i told them to speak to the lads on the boats who would advise them otherwise but i think its stuck in there thick heads, must be the conversation on the pier.

I hope the lad remembers the faces of these 3 cowardly pieces of sh!t and has contact with a few naughty boys who can give them back exactly what they deserve.

carnt understand why these low life persons has had to do such a thing surely theres enough mackerel for everyone to go around us and the boat guys not that they are targeting them in the nets ,but these low lifers must want them all for them selfs and be selling them on not for there own freezer for winter bait surely 50 -100 fillets will do for the winter season ,because of lack of mackerel so far it not working out for them atm
