well it looks like it may get closed BLYTH PIER.yes thats correct and the reason why is some irrisponsable anglers x 3 have phyicaly assaulted one of the salmon lads.apparently while his wife and kids looked on in the car.they had words saying he was to blame for the makerel.what they dont know is most swim throught the nets anyway.
well he had a good scrap and they then turned on the vehicle with the wife and kids in and smashed the windscreen.so as a result the harbour are holding meetings with the police to close the pier to all anglers.what a shame due to some blody idiots thinking they have the right to assault a fellow angler and terrify his family.just thought you lads should be very aware of this.its crazy what people will do when they get things in there head.they must think the lads are netting makerel.well how very wrong they are.

It has been comming mind, all the reports on here of the nets and leads flying towards the boats etc.

Such a shame it has come to this and can only hope its sorted out with out making everyone suffer.

I never fish Blyth pier but it serves alot of lads on here in the summer and winter months, would be a real shame if it went.

this is disgusting that these yobs attacked these innocent people, its got nothing to do with his nets that mackeral are not there, its the same on every pier they are trying to make a living, its not as if they don't pay for it.you know these chavs spoil for every one real fishermen who spend most of there time planning the winter species and targeting summer species it's just a shame.

As has been said,it was coming.
But FFS,we are talking of a hobby,if that with some in the summer on the pier.
Thats all and the brave anglers were three to one with a family watching.
I do hope that the auth come up with at least a annual fee to fish the pier to put off the morons.
Not ideal but better then a complete closure

              I have a suggestion.
To show that not all anglers are idiots can this site,or someone on it,come up with a collection and donation either to this lad if he has been hurt and may not be able to work, or to a charity of his choice.
I feel it would be a nice gesture.
              What are peoples thoughts?

Are we def sure that this has happened as how did they know where his car was parked ?and there is quite a few cameras around the place so they should catch who is responsable?. lets hope its all false and the guy and his family are unhurt

The only problem with putting a charge on fishing the pier is that the chavs etc will just go and steal something else to pay to get on the pier or mug someone else etc to fund it.

I doubt that would be top of their wish list

                        If It Were To Close

could be the wake up call thats needed for everyone who uses piers as a platform to fish from to stand up as a club or individual and take reasonable and responsible actions to safegaurd these structures for future generations. The what, how and when well thats the six million dollar questions that need to be answered and a plan of action put in place by individuals, clubs and port authorities.
I did suggest as a club we could clean Tynemouth pier up of litter, crap, rubbish whatever before are after each match or a date and time when club members could meet up and have a clean up operation. Unfortunately this fell on alot of deaf ears and those that were listening didn't think it was their responsibility. My thought on the matter was that the port authorities would then look at the clubs in a more favourable light and grant clubs the permission to use the pier.Every little bit helps I thought shame the club and its members didn't .
Just as a matter of interest dose Blyth Pier act as any other purpose other than a platform to fish from? If the pier dosent then the authorities could simply demolish the lot problem solved
Nothing makes a fish bigger than almost being caught

in all probability, the feckwits responsible would take no notice of any ban anyway, or worse, blame the salmon boys and take it out on them some more

nowt surprises me about the pier rats of summer any more haven't set foot on a local pier in the summer for 4 years now because of them, used to enjoy going down with the bairn as well

some sort of gesture might not be a bad thing to the guys family though, but I fear no matter what, it would be too little too late, in the hands of the authorities now

a few years ago a load of NESA members went down and cleaned up shields pier, even put some signs up, take you're crap home etc

next day virtually all the signs had been torn down and it was same old same old not long after

sad fact but things like this, and the nanny state we live in, won't be long before one by one the piers are closed, be that on health and safety or misuse grounds

Some people are like slinkies - not really good for anything but bring a smile to your face when thrown down the stairs

if its true i hope these idiots are caught and delt with as these anglers dont deserve to be on the pier as the fisherman is only trying to make a living and he has been keeping his gear away from the pier
