    Had a walk along Blyth pier yesterday morning there was a net tied to the pier at the bend went out to sea for about 100yds then ran the lenth of the pier up to the end. is this legal? Only a couple of Mackerel caught earlyer on

    i it is elegal ther not alowed t tie ther nets on the pier

      have a look at the other blyth pier thread, legal issues discussed at length on there. nets definitely shouldn't be attached to the pier.

        No nets aloud to be attached to the pier inform the harbour master next time
        keep kids off the streets, give them a rod.

          As I said on the other thread I am still not 100% sure on this, I am still waiting for confirmation.

          m ruff, did you take a photo of the nets tied to the pier? If not he could just say they were not tied to the pier. Are you sure they were definately tied to the pier and not just very close? Others have told me they have just been close. As also said on the other thread, if they are tied to the pier then phone Defra north on 01670 731399. They will sort it out after that.

            I was on the pier last night, his boat was tied to the pier with a long rope which meant if was floating out as far as the net, maybe that's what you saw?

              May have been mistacken but looked like ti was tied off on the pier

                When I was down this morning the net was a good 100 yards plus from the pier at it's closest, running more or less in line with the pier for a bit; the long salmon net was even further out and boats were tending to both. Couldn't see it at any point being tied to the pier - it would only have been a problem if baitfishing at range around the bend area, no problem for me at the end-corner chucking towards the mile marker.
