Fished the pier one hour either side of high water using daylights approx half way between the shore and the bend, nothing caught.
Conditions were almost perfect for mackerel, mirror like sea, and no wind to speak of, and bait fish shoals swimming by the pier, even seagulls diving for the sand eels? Only real problem was the occasional deluge of rain.
There were quite a few fishing with very little to show for there efforts, the odd small coalfish and codling were caught by some lads next to me who were bait fishing with rag & lug.
As there was not much happening bait fishing, one of the lads set up a small spinning set up with a toby lure and had almost immediate success a nice 1lb to 1.1/2lb coalfish.
Talking to some of the other lads leaving the pier, only small coalfish had been caught from the end of the pier.
A blank for me but enjoyed the banter, beats been in the house watching TV.
