Just been buying a new fathom 15. Normally I put 30lb diawa sensor line straight through to fish the low water marks in Northumberland. What kind of line would people recommend and with what breaking strain. I do not like using shock leader because I am for ever replacing it.
I use Berkley XTS salt water 18 lb main line and 50lb spectra braid shocker on my penn fathom 15 and my penn MAG2 525 as I just use a 5oz lead.
I have just started to use the braid as a shock lead very small knot and it works fine for me.
you need a shock leader m8 just for safety if you are fishing next to other people
If you wanting to use that type of line straight through then you would of been best buying a saltist, I use 35lb daiwa sensor straight through on that. Fathom I use daiwa sensor surf in 20lb. You won't get much 30lb or so on the fathom.

If ya want mono straight through try P line in 40lb very strong and thin for poundage
I am a fisherman !
It is not merely something that I do
It is who I am !
Fishing is not simply my escape.
It is where I am supposed to be.
It is not a place that I go
But a lifelong journey that I am taking
It is a passage that was shown to me and that I will continue to show others.
When you understand all of this you will then know me .
And we will fish together
I do not think you will get a consensus of opinion , all anglers seem to like different lines.
The best line I have found is Ultima Power Plus 25 or 30lb has smaller diameter.
Also Asso hard skin is not bad.
Am no big caster like m8 but there's enough on for fishing the rock marks and holes on the beaches i go to . If a needed that much distance I would not use the reel or use this line . Daiwa sensor 25lb is the same or more in dia . So not to bad m8
