i used to take my car instead of flying when i was working over there, a night on the Ferry is mint, Bergan good for a bevvy....................but speed limit and terrain will make a car journey further up a long one, and maybe other ferries to get across places, especially coming home when ya buggered.......
Newcastle at xmas time used to be flooded with norskies over here shopping and in Tiffs for a night out
i can't see them putting them back on..........nice to think so tho

I believe Bergen was the ferry port for the previous UK to Norway service so if it's Bergen again it isn't much good if you want to fish the Northern camps.
Bergen's located in the South so getting to the Northern camps such as Soroya, Sandland Brygge or Skjervoy will be a hassle. It would be a fabulous car journey if you had the time to do it but for working guys with limited holidays, I reckon flying to Oslo and then on to Alta or Tromso will still be the quickest and most cost effective.
Of course Bergen has an airport but I don't think they fly direct to Tromso or Alta so you would have to fly from Bergen to Oslo and then change flights. Looks like a recipe for lost baggage and/or rod tubes!!!!
