  • info on fishing at whitby

hi everyone, i'm going to whitby at the end of july for a long weekend and the f.p.o said its ok for me to do a spot of fishing. where's the best marks close to whitby (i prefer clean ground). is it possible to fish the piers and also what species are caught there, and is there a chance of a thornback ray. cheers for any replies.

Hi Tony, try this site mate. They should give you all the info you need.

Kayak, Shore & Boat Fishing Forums - Whitby Sea Anglers - Index

Have a look at Mikes site too, it has some excellent info for anyone fishing the area.

Photo recce is a great site for anyone fishing that area Tony, Mike used to post on here regularly but not heard of him for a while now. I have fished the beach at Sandsend but only once, same with the pier. It seems a canny beach but unfortunately the night we fished there wasn't a single fish caught to the best of our knowledge.

have a look at kettleness beach if you fancy a short drive and a path involving ropes, it's worth the effort. I think it's listed on the whitby anglers' marks index. looks like a really nice low water mark, plus it seems not many can be bothered to abseil down to it. we were there at the beginning of may, had the place to ourselves. I'll be going myself soon, bass live round there I've heard.
