It's more personal preference as to wether its worth while. the reel will be more controlable but you will lose the ratchet and the knobby can be a bit of a pain if you fish with the reel at the bottom. I've converted them in the past and can be a bit of a faff on if I remember correctly. You have to drill out the ratchet hole and grind off the graphite spacer and replace with brass washers to get a good solid fit. Following that you need to remove the 2 brass rings from the end plate and the brake block pin from the spool. If it is an older model then you also need to glue a metal disc onto the side of the spool as the magnet will not work on a graphite spool, which can cause an inbalance.
