Loch Etive near Oban is worth a try but it's approximately a 5 hour drive from Newcastle. Loch Ryan near Stranraer is possibly the closest to you but not fished it myself although I'm sure there's a few lads on here who can give some info on it aswell as searching the internet

Yeah Loch Ryan is the nearest, but never fished it. Etive is OK, but not worth the long drive in my opinion. The Clyde, where I live is dreadful. Loch Fyne is not much better.

Eyemouth although obviously not a sea loch, might be your best bet.

Been a long time since I've fished up there, but sand eel was the bait for the doggies, makerel for the rays and conger, even the odd tope, and crab for the bass etc.
Most of the comps were fished on the east side of the loch at the likes of Cairnryan, and all the way up to the mouth of the lock.
On the west side, I have had a few bass from Lady bay on crab. There should also be a good chance of pollock in the same area. The entrance to the loch was good for nice plump plaice, and anywhere you can get access to the rocks leading to Dally bay which is out of the loch and westwards.
            Hope this is helpfull.

Loch Etive can be superb if you catch it right but is a very enigmatic place, can fish its socks off one day and in identical conditions the next day you can blank. I was lucky this year and caught it spot on, had a couple of tremendous nights sport. Heres a link to my catch report

                sea lochs

Scottish sea lochs fished excellent till about the early 80s then died a death due to overtrawling and are not worth fishing nowadays (
