After a couple of stops we arrived at our chosen destination full of expectation. Reports have been excellent of late and armed with top notch bait we tackled up ready for the excellent session to come........only it didn't bloody happen.

I practically jumped out of the van before it had stopped and raced to the chocolate coloured beach in front of us. 5 mins later and my first bait was in the water, two minutes later a bite! Excellent I thought as I struck into the fish. Instant result, a common smooth hound of around 2lb. In my rush I'd left the camera in the van but managed some photo's on my phone which I'll upload later. For me that was it, Barney from this forum managed 3 doggies and a codling around a pound and a half. Wally my other mate had a small pout an even smaller bass and a doggie. We fished for about 18hrs and at the time of typing this have still not been to bed yet. I've heard since that there were very few fish about yesterday....why, I have no idea. Perfect weather, tides, conditions, bait....everything was perfect but no luck today. Words cannot express how gutted I am right now...but that's fishing I suppose.

A few pics, I'll have some more when I get them off my phone.

Dinner was lovingly prepared for the fish, but I must have forgot the invites

    Mark(Barney) with a doggie

    And again with his codling.

The sunrise this morning was stunning.

    Thanks for looking.

Unlucky mate - you caught something tho...it'd have been a bazillion times worse if you'd spent 18hrs with nowt to show for it

Think the whole sea is dieing a death, even the "top" spots have seemed to drop off of late.

Lots of fish out there still but boy you have to work for them now, even in my time fishing (22years) i have see a shocking drop in ALL species.

Coalie, once a species you cuould not get through...just about wiped out over 1lb
Whiting, hated winter fish but vanished of late.
Cod just about gone in any real number (cod over 5lb codling under 5lb)
Haddock, whats one of them not seen one for over 3 years

List goes on....anyway just trying to make you feel better for not having a great time...still have the memorys thou.
