I suppose it depends where you are fishing, our club has open boundaries and as such that means you can go anywhere, as long as you leave at 6:30pm and are back by 10:30pm. If you wanted to go to Eyemouth have 2 chucks and come back you could, on the other hand we have some cracking marks within walking distance and that gives you more time on your chosen mark.
I used to be member of the Seaham club and used to travel down there to fish the pier for the Cleadon matches. Then i realised that i was losing about 40 mins travelling and that means no bait in the water and less chance of a fish

We already fish some memorial matches( Ray Bardwell and Anthony Jackson) and those are always on given mondays during our season, after Johns sad passing it was agreed to do the same and fish it on a monday night, we got some feed back from other anglers who knew John and had expressed a wish to fish it also and so it has become an open match to allow those who knew and fished with John to participate. I hope this will clarify it a bit and hope to put some faces to names on the night.

Cheers Jamie, should be a good turn out from old and new faces, currently all memorial matches have been run on Mondays as "members" agreed (as jamie stated)!! The event has been publicised by flyers in tackle shops, social media, fishing event programmes and word of mouth. Potential new members can also be signed up on the night and become Cleadon SAC members, in addition new members can have their say on what events and topics that arise.

I'm looking forward to it. Putting it on the facebook forums everyday so hopefully we will get a good response. My uncle is coming along as well but my dad can't make it as my mams at work. Was a bit of a lift this morning so hopefully be a few decent fish about!

I've just had an hour down the cliffs and there's a lovely sea on, getting bigger too. High water will throw some fish out tonight.

So who fancies it then? The sea is absolutely humping in! If it drops off conditions will be perfect, come along and have the chance to fish the first John Taylor memorial match. Meet the regulars that fish the Cleadon club comps and get the chance to fish somewhere you might not usually have fished if you had been sat in the house watching Emmerdale with the missus!
