same as above whist casting , wet hand , of crab , worm ect , anyone no the best material to use when thumbing your reel,, just wondering if old bike inner tubes will help ,which I have plenty of,, cheers..........

Actually Bob is on to something - it is a technique thing. On the odd occasion I suffer from spool slip I know it's because I've got the timing a bit wrong.
Spool slip is generally the result of too much power too soon - slow your cast down and hit it later and you should find it much less of a problem whilst maintaining or even improving your distancesCLIP IT AND WHACK IT
