What a blast from the past! Me and my mate regularly trudged along the blast with one each when Dawdon pit was there. We gave up trying to use the igniter to light it, we just used meths and the bowl method. We used to warm pasties wrapped in tinfoil on the top of them .
They both got bashed about big style and rarely ever failed us.
I remeber lighting mine I got given brand new unused" I pumped it up then lit the wick in the meths bath then pressed the blowtorch built into it, and nearly crapped my pants flames everywhere it finally lite then blew over on my rod stand at Whitburn steel haha. Still got it in shed broken glass and a bag of rust now but it was much brighter than the tilly.
