  • Best tip eyes for braid?

Well after a short time using braid on my leeds icon sport the tip eye is knackered. It hasn't worn in the usual fashion though with a groove, its as if the inner guide has melted. This has caused a sharp edge which cuts braid and frays mono.

Now i am after replacing the tip eye, which replacement eye is going to be the toughest and not last 5 mins when used with braid?

Cheers fellas, i will have a look tomorrow at what i need. I had heard that the mk1 icons were nice rods but the eyes were a weakness. hopefully the rest of the eyes will stand up better than the tip which obviously takes most of the strain. I don't use braid all the time though mainly multis.

Took the tip eye off today and the braid hadn't worn through the eye. The problem was that the inner eye had became damaged/cracked leaving a sharp edge.

Managed to replace the eye with the fuji off my ancient century sc6 sport than hasn't been used for at least 15 years.
