Never fished the beach much - worth it on the flood up to top or just low water?

Sure Gary or one of the other local lads will be along in a while to answer but for now have a look through these:

CLIP IT AND WHACK IT

The south end of the beach (around Watts slope to the Rex) can fish well over high water (although I tried down there on thursday & got scratch despite a lovely looking sea!). It's pretty scoured & rocky down there at the moment but if you clip one down and whack it into the gully there have been some good bags taken over the last few weeks. Low water's always the best, just to access all the marks, and as always you need a sea running - it's a waste of time when it's flat. You've also got the Clock & Rex proms which are good in a SE sea.
At the top end, the Boat Station & Prom are good HW shots but there's currently a ton of sand at the top end which has rendered the Boat Station pretty useless but the Prom is still worth a shot - you want a big N / NE swell the best for those marks.
I'm out again shortly but after the other night don't think it'll be Whitley way!

Whitley has been fishing very well this season whenever there has been a good sea running. It did this evening too with bites coming as soon as it was dark. The rougher the sea, the further north up the beach you need to fish. South and north ends can fish well at high water and the middle is better at low. Unfortunately, the tides are a bit small at the minute to fish high water at the far north end by the boat station, and there is a lot of weed up there.
Try from the Rendezvous café up to the top of the prom, moving around until you find the fish.

Thnaks for the replies lads and particular thanks to Stewart for the marks map.
Actually ended up at Newbiggin and had a couple out so all was good. I would have fished Whitley if low water had been earlier so if the seas stay up, maybe next weekend.
Thanks again
