  • Dumfries & Galloway advice

    Hi all.
I'm taling the family to Dumfries & Galloway next week (next to Port Logan at the bottom of the peninsular). Was wondering if anyone knows any marks suitable to take kids to and what sort of species to target?

    Thanks.

Most of the marks on the Mull are not really suitable for kids - a lot of scrambling involved. The end of Port Logan pier is ok at hw.Pollack and wrasse. Drive to Terally Bay on the opposite side of the Mull(10 mins drive) and LSDs,pollack and bass could be on the menu.

Best call into Ardwell Marine when you arrive - you will have to pass it on your way to Logan.Ask Tim for advice as he should know what marks are fishing well. Hope this helps. We are going over Easter Monday for a few weeks. If you are still there pop in and see me at No 5 Clashwhannon Caravan Park,Drummore.

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately we are planning on travelling back on the Sunday so this time our paths will not cross.

Been reading the post on MOG and it looks like you'll either fall off a cliff and die or catch some disease from the cow s*!t on the beach.

You forgot to mention being gored by a bull or getting electrocuted on a fence

          hello mate
if you go right to the bottom tip "mull of galloway" there is quite a good few spots to fish if you head for the lighthouse at the mull you can see the coastline on both sides as the land narrows right down, ive caught maceral when in season pollock, dog fish, conger eal..its a lovely place to fish if the weather is nice but there is a lot of dodgy cliffs..there is also a fishing tackle shop on the way to the mull you cant miss it on the road side the fella is a great help and knows loads of good spots and which bait is working you can also fish for bass not far from there,,good luck
