  • Confused?

Right so I'm thinking about a kompressor S as my new rod but looking on the century website it states heavy to mixed ground. The guy on the you tube vid however states he would use it for clean to mixed, so which is it?.

Currently I mainly fish hendon prom, horden and the likes as well as the rivers (I use my afaw surf for river work), and I'm fairly new to sea fishing but will be looking at Seaham club next year so I suppose what I'm asking is would the Komp S do the job for those marks or would the SS be better or something completely different?

I've used both mate. The s has a nicer tip and softer mid section then the ss. Both are nice rods, and the s is a good all rounder. I used one in the river, on the beaches and in some of the heaviest ground up Northumberland. It dealt with everything. If you were to fish mostly heavy ground though, then the ss would be a better choice.

gary pye on the video says the tips are identical , its the butt that's softer on the s . ???????

I fish the same marks andy and any of the komp rods would suit tbh .

Not according to the century web site.

Just looked on said web site and it's not mentioned on there. Defo read it somewhere though, might have been the jersey casting site. Mr pye is wrong though.

TopB, when you say that pye is wrong, what exactly is it that he is wrong about? Is that about the tip/butt comment above?

Just a bit confused, as I say I'm fairly new to sea fishing so plz excuse my ignorance if it's a silly question.

The lower mid section is softer and the tip is sweeter. As far as I'm aware the butts are much of a muchness. Brilliant all rounder.

Top 2/3rds of the top are the same on the s and the ss
The last 3rd and the butt of the ss is stiffer. According to century.

Century told me they were the same tip but the ss has a 20% stiffer tip, but I think the s is a excellent all rounder
