  • Headlight Recommendation

I'm looking at getting one of these headlights that can light up half a beach but I have no idea which makes or models I should be looking at. It will be a birthday present so there's no specific budget but obviously it has to be reasonable.

I've seen a few such as these

Tiga SL12 Super Headlight : Lamps, Headlights etc Tiga SL12 Super Headlight | Gerry's Fishing

Samalite Headlites from 8 to 13amp just brilliant! : Lamps, Headlights etc Samalite Headlites from 8 to 13amp just brilliant! | Gerry's Fishing

Are these any good? Can you get car chargers for them because 10 hours doesn't seem like it would last me when camping up the Mull for a few days.

      Jack Shine Your Light

Well in these trying times you will have to get yourself the most powerfull headlight known to all anglers. A light that will shine a beam of light reaching the coastal waters of Norway or Iceland its here you may find what your looking for FISH. Then its just a matter of brushing up on your long distance casting technique.

I think i'm looking at one of the halogen jobbies that turn you in to a mobile lighthouse as i already have a led light.

The samalite hl100f is looking the favourite with the 8amp nickle battery, don't fancy carrying a lead acid battery around.

I have the Tiga and can't fault it Gary. The battery is heavy but once on your waist you forget it's there. Highly valuable for spotting fish in the surf or when on rock marks. Wouldn't be without it.

Yer i've seen yours sean it's a cracker, what wattage is the bulb in that and how long does the battery last? 6w? I assume the charger and battery belt are included in the cost on that site

I think I'll go for the Tiga SL85, it's supposed to be a SL12 but with a 8.5aH Nickel Hydride battery so it seems to be the best of both worlds.

Thats a lot of dosh for a light but i suppose its worth every penny on a dark beach.
I found last year i had to buy reading glasses. The cheap lcd light i got off e-bay proved no good as struggled to see properly so i bought a mid range light from a local shop. Its A Shakespear halogen thing and is very bright-£40 i paid.
The Tigra is twice as bright.

Gary you know how long some of our sessions are and the Tiga always has plenty charge left in it at the end.

Good to hear, I've also seen a car charger on the Tiga site so that will be handy when we're fishing away for a few days. Should be excellent for fishing on rock marks at night, less chance of me killing myself now haha.
