Jake, the river wansbeck is a good mark for big flounders and will come into its own in the spring/summer months when the fish are seeking the peeler crabs. Any where on the south side is good once the tide starts to flood but it takes a little longer to start coming in, in the river but once it starts it fills up fast, the concrete block up near the bridge is a good spot as you can fish up to high water and still be dry, but be prepared to get muddy as estuary is mud/(sleck) underfoot. Another good spot is on the north side over the wear near the bridge, almost under it, I have had some big flounders from there. Always put them back alive as they dont taste very nice and if you cant get the hook out straight away just cut it off as near to the hook as you can as once the fish starts to bleed it normaly dies, the hook will rot away pretty quickly. Cresswell beach is another good spot as is Warkworth pier, seaward side. Tight Lines!
