  • Beaches/piers near Newquay, Cornwall

Have found myself in Truro with a rod and nowt to do in the evenings. Can anyone offer any advice about clean ground marks in this area that will be fishing well at night this time of year. Obviously, I'll pop into a tackle shop too and ask, but any knowledge would be much appreciated. Cheers in advance.

Porthcurno beach on the way to lands end
Some good size Rays, double figure bass, pollock smoothhound etc etc etc
If you can get live sandeel float fish off the rocks to left hand side of beach

    Porthleven harbour for huge conger

Or head up toward bude - follow signs for tintagel & fish trebarwith Iv had big bass from there or walk down to bossiney for good fish

The list goes on and on

There are quite a few clean beaches just south of you at swanpool. Rays and bass and loads of doggies. There are also some very good rock marks round the helford river mouth just east of Helston. Bass galore round there mate. I've just come back from lizard and had plenty good fishing sessions that way.
To get away from dragons and catch monsters.

Brilliant place there's good marks all of cornwall
          Even freshwater
As a kid 7-8 year old I used to fish the stream that runs the back end of helston park & got 2lb+ wild brown trout
          Every cast
Fished coverack prob back in 1990 ish & must have caught 30 wrasse
Padstow harbour is still teaming with mullet

          Just love the place

Worth the drive if it's still bright & sunny & calm sea
I'd def head to bossiney long walk down coastal path even worse coming back up but when you see the size of some of them pollock you'll agree it's worth the walk

Fish it bout 3 hours after low water once the bay fills up & usually doesn't need a big cast as most the fish just patrol the edges of the rocks
