We have just had confirmation that Natural England Maritime Team (formerly English Nature) are taking a stand at the show this year. This is the Organisation who are issuing questionnaires and gathering information on behalf of the Governmentre numbers of fish and species caught. This will give you a great opportunity to talk to them direct regarding MCZ's or any other concerns.
I have now received notification that Natural England Government (East) and Maritime Team will NOT be taking a stand at this year's North East Sea Angling and Boat Show.
I have shown below copies of communcations with them :

I have discussed with people at this end and I am emailing to confirm that we will be able to bring a stand and I will send the booking form this week.
Following a telephone call, my email to Natural England 3.4.09
Following your telephone call, we are very disappointed that, despite written confirmation that you would be exhibiting at the North East Sea Angling and Boat Show in October this year, personnel in the upper echelons of your Organisation have decided that they are not confident to answer questions which may be posed by members of the public, and have now made the decision not to attend the show. As the show is some six months away, it would appear that their lack of confidence is of a permanent nature. This show would be an ideal opportunity for Natural England Government (East) and Maritime Team to showcase their work and to promote worthwhile conservation projects. Your work no doubt takes into consideration the views of the public taxpayers - and anglers are also concerned with the conservation of our waters. We know that many questionnaires have been distributed which seem to require information on fish catches etc., and as this is obviously a very costly exercise, it seems confusing that your Organisation is unable to answer questions on this, and other, subjects and would indeed indicate some sort of covert operation. I have to advise that, as it seems you have done a complete 'U Turn', it will be necessary for me to advise all publications and websites that you are no longer attending the show.

Please accept my apologies regarding the inconsistent messages that you have been receiving from us about attendance at the Sea Angling and Boat show. I appreciate that it must be frustrating for you and that you were expecting us to attend, as you mentioned it might be possible for us to do a presentation and question and answer session. We would still very much like to be present but we did not yet feel able to book a stand yet. I must assure you there is no covert operation at play here. We are in a difficult position at the moment where we need to recruit staff and do some more planning before we can start to book dates. The reason for this caution is that we want to do a good job and to be able to answer sea-anglers questions in an intelligent and consistent manner once the project begins.
I leave you to draw your own conclusions on this !!!
