Never really understood the jist about peeler. I know they go in the tyres to hide when soft. But how long do they stay soft. Are you better off freezing crab if i happened to spend a couple of days looking for some and got any?.
I heard they are common in scotland.
If this is true and i can try and find a location i would have a venture over.
        Mick.

I think it's quite hard to get people to say where they get their peeler, Mick. It's understandable too, coz they are precious little buggers. I never bothered with them until last spring/early summer when I managed to find a few "softies" (and a mean a few) in the Haven in Tynemouth. My first cast ever with crab as bait then resulted in a PB Plaice on Blyth Pier.... I just mention this to show how precious they must be and why people sometimes don't want to say where they get theirs from.

My understanding is that there are loads in the South West most of the year but there are far fewer in the North/ North East. Don't know why there would be more in Scotland but maybe there are. Best of luck, mate.

I holiday at Seahouses for a week in the summer. Spent ages looking round rocks for some last year and only found one.

Found a load of softies last year but no peelers, never really caught much on the softies.
