Only one for me locally, back in 1982/3 - a shade over 14lb (can't remember exact weight) in a sea league match, from the Long Rock at Amble. After picking up a rod again 7 years ago after a 24 year lay-off the closest I've been is about 8 1/2, but will keep trying - don't think I'll improve on my PB but would be nice to get another doubler!
The strange thing is Chris Stringer. He has had more fish than most but very few doubles locally. On the other hand at balcary i remember something about him having 11 for over 200lb in one session!! Best i managed was 4 for 64lb but i was just a kid lol. I was gutted to land one 15lb locally that was minging but it won me a few quid. Remember one of 28lb from top rocks Cambois in a match and little Mac having one 24lb i think in another match. Best mark for doublers i know of is Newbiggin cliffs. My mate twed god rest had 2 in a couple of weeks and lost an absolute beast that i would estimate at 20-30 that just hung in the swell below. We couldn't even steer it along the cliff it just kept boring down. Tynemouth pier was another mark that always threw up a few pigs my old man had them to 18lb in the good old days.

few,bet all the yough anglers, think us crinkerles tell lies.plenty of time this year.ps personaly think it will be a GOOD winter, with some nice doubles for the yougher anglers.hope so.
I've had plenty in the 80s and 90s from balcary biggest 24_1/2 that was gutted and put on the scales the day after and lost some really big fish I was on the gaff one night when my mate hooked a true monster of a cod of the flat rock that would of smashed the record but sadly that fish came off just out of gaffing distance I still feel sorry for the guy now.
Had a couple from my home town of hartlepool just under15lb
I have witnessed 2 doubles pulled in from Steetley and it was a pleasure to handball up one of those fish....tell you what mind I felt totally responsible at the time and I was as nervous as the lad about it coming off!
My grandad has some pictures of a few doubles he caught from Horden and Arbroath many many years ago
Never came close myself, my recent PB set at 7.5 and that had taken a long time to beat my previous.
It is my ultimate goal...not sure what I will do after I finally achieve it
The one and only time ive been there when a double was caught I had exactly the same task
Mine didnt end quite aswell though as it fell off when i was handballing it.
I was more gutted than the lad I was with when it came off
i have had 5 double figure cod shore fishing lots more in the boats , had 2 in one session on the dock a 14 and a 12 pounder took me 10 minutes to bait up the adrenaline rush giz the shakes, had me first double on shore in 1979 of hendon beach , had a 11 pounder of the sewer , and 1 just our 10 of the prom about 10 year back never had one since, but will keep trying , would of had more but the rocks on the prom are a night mare
