  • Penn Vendetta

Alright lads?? I\'ve noticed Veals have Penn rods at half price, the Vendetta 12\'6\" is about £70 now including VAT.
Are these rods any good or what? Need a new rod but cos I\'ve a holiday to pay for wor lass will throw a right wobbler if I go n blow a large wedge on a new rod!
Any other suggestions if these aren\'t much cop? Was thinking about a Diawa TDSS but the Vendetta seems tempting! Don\'t want to spend more than about £130 MAX.
    Cheers........Mark

P.S Anybody else seen any dolphins in the Tyne recently? Was one in front of us last night at the fish quay! First time i\'ve seen one.

Aye Mark, there was one playing about in the river (just off the fish quay), last Wednesday morning when we were setting off on the JFK.

Out of the two I\'d pick the Daiwa. I have a TDXS129PM (Daiwa X) and it is awesome on clean beaches. It picks out tiny bites that nearly all other rods would miss. Wouldn\'t swap it for anything.

I know someone who has The SS and it does look a good rod.

All depends on what type of fishing you do. For years I\'ve used a conoflex and a fladen and they are both out and out rock rods that cast about 120 yards (OHT) but can handle a 6oz gripper and a huge bait. I bought a Penn Noreaster and a Penn Vendetta in July from Southend Angling Centre (both at less than half price) and I can\'t fault them for the money. The Vendetta is too light for the rocks, Shields pier etc, but I have cast 157 yards over grass with it (OTG) and as it\'s going to be used for clean ground where distance is normally required, I\'m well impressed with it. The Noreaster had its baptism at Whithorn, out casted the Conoflex and coped with the rough ground and double shots of doggies just as well. Couldn\'t and wouldn\'t compare them to the RT as I\'ve never tried one, but well worth the money I paid for them.

Not sure what to go for now!! I found a Diawa TDSS 13\' for £110 is this a good price or not?
The Penn still lucks good value but I mainly fish quite snaggy marks so want something that will cope well!
Don\'t know anything about the RT rod, though I did buy an RT rod & reel from ID for £40 last year & I have to say that it\'s a cracking rod for the money!
Where\'s the best place to buy an RT aXellerator?

I think the Daiwa has a casting rating of 8oz, so it has a bit of backbone. If you fishing mixed ground or piers what about an Abu Conolon Premier? You\'ll spot the bites and it has some serious backbone, and fall into that price range!
