The 200 yards is a wind up, apparently Granty was playing the reporter cos he didnt have a clue about anglers or angling. We could probably do without the bad publicity but do we ever get good publicity? As Sless says "it looks worse than it is" and if they saw some of the other places we get to when fishing there would be uproar!

Tony, just read it for myself.
I really cant believe you spoke to the gazzette and said all those things.
Did you also give them permission to publish the photo?
Was the photo actually you or have the gazzette set it up.
Awaiting your reply Tony before i make any further comment.
TerryIf people think you are an idiot, why speak and remove all doubt !

If Tony wants to be in the papers, thats up to him....nothing to do with anyone on here.
As for the mark, there are a lot more which are just as dangerous. Having fished Lagvag point and Cairnywellan head on the mull, I'd class these as just as bad, if not worse, although no Jonathon Edwards impressions are needed to get on themDavy

One of the many reasons I stopped buying newspapers years ago. I love the way they say they cant show the video for safety reasons but tell you it's on Youtube.
Can someone ring the Gazzette and tell them I blocked up a window yesterday and only used two battens on my scaffold cos I couldn't be bothered to walk to the bottem of the garden and get more.Regards, Graham

It is a dangerous mark, we all know the spot. Tony fishes this type of mark all of the time so is well aware of the dangers and acts accordingly. This is the second dig at anglers by the Gazette, if they are that short of news that they need to pick on anglers they should think about replacing their reporters !!!!!!! We all fish dangerous marks, often alone and in bad weather, how many times does the Gazette report about anglers who have injured or killed themselves whilst fishing ? I think it is time they concentrated on the real problems in South Shields, oh I forgot, the paper is now printed in Sunderland !!!!!!! King of the rocks is not a title that means all members are taking risks every time they go fishing, it is a title earned by fishing all weathers and consistantly catching good fish. I will be dropping the Gazette a line, doubt if it will ever get printed though !!!! Tight lines Tony.

Terry i might be wrong but im sure the photo is one of Tonys, im sure he posted it on NESA a couple of years ago, it was on the day of the Shields open, not last year but the year before i think. Im sure it was blowing strong north westerly aswell cos me n harra were on the north target rock. We were there from 7am and could only stand up to cast and then hid from the gale!
Got everything we need mickyo
crampons
