Hello all, I'm looking for a good mono that has the least amount of stretch for pulling out of snags as its a nightmare sometimes when the line just keeps stretching
I've heard the asso lines are good and I've used the asso HT which is good but still quite stretchy
Cheers for the replies, I've bought some of the hikaru stuff to try, only £6 a spool off eBay
Anyone know what ultima red ice is like? Got a spool I've never bothered using
Tried quite a few different lines. And tbh they all stretch loads when they new. Ultima black ice is a nice line but defo don't use the red stuff I'd also throw the spool away with all the line on its utter rubbish mate

Switch to braid problem solved you'll find it very hard to find any mono that doesn't stretch like the rest of the lads have said most brands of ultima were utter -hite.
I've tried braid and loved it for the lack of stretch but it beds in too easily to be used for casting
Think I'll stay away from anything ultima haha
What braid were you using and how were you pulling out of snags?
I use .36mm (66lb) Power Pro braid on my Saltist 20 and 525 Mag (with an 80lb mono leader). I've never had any issues with the braid digging in; I pendulum cast where safe / appropriate / required or either OHT or Brighton cast on crowded venues and IMHO the Power Pro casts almost the same as 15lb mono does.
When snagged you need a short length of smooth round wood or pipe to wrap the braid around (or a very well padded arm if you are brave - don't try this with thinner braid though) - a few steps back and you will be clear. If you do what I see so many do and clamp the reel then walk back from the snag pointing the rod at the sea then you are asking for trouble...
I was using the Chinese spectra 50lb stuff and wrapping it around a tea towel, I never pulled it using the reel
How did you put it on your reel? I found it bedding in just when putting it on

I treat it exactly the same as I do mono, wind on under a bit of finger / thumb pressure making sure there are no loose coils. First couple of casts take it easy but even winding a big one up it's never given me a problem.
Been using braid on multipliers for over two years now, again just my experience but for me not getting greedy with the diameter (I don't go below .36mm - most 15lb line is .35mm) and making sure the braid is a good round profile are important.
I've never used the Chinese stuff, only Power Pro. Yes it is expensive but it lasts forever and it's never given me any problems
Maybe it's worth getting some power pro then as braids much better when it comes to snags, do any of the local tackle shops stock it? Cheers for all the replies/advice everyone
