Seems some people forget they only bought a bit of property and not the whole river
Just like buying a property with a public footpath, cant do a thing to stop people walking along it. They could complain to the council and try to take things further, but unless they own the actual land, they cant stop you by erecting a sign. The council will striggle to make that an unfishable area.
The best thing for people fishing that area is to do a wee tidy up if its a mess when you get there, saves any ammo and shows to the peeps that you are considerate and not one of the minority
The best that we as anglers can do is to treat residents and the areas that they live in with respect. Don't give them grounds to try and get fishing stopped, don't park inconsiderately and tidy up and they will just have to carry on tolerating us.
Good post but if i fished there i would be getting the signs removed.
After all there are by laws on such matters and it will put off some people.
But i am a bolshie sod
the place i work at wanted to put up some sign's and after discussing it with the planning department (many times ) i found out that the law was changed a few years ago and its harder to put them up than you think. i wouldn't be surprised if they were Illegal and if you complain to the council they will be taken down ........ or one dark night they could just ahem go missing
I have been in touch with the Port of Tyne Authority reguarding the signs, they basically knew nothing about them. I went to St Peters baisn and photographed the sign and sent it to the PTA as they requested, have just recieved this reply
Thanks for the photo, as you say someone must have went to great trouble.
Suffice to say I am reasonably sure that the sign has not been erected by the Port of Tyne Authority.
As to the legality or otherwise of such apparent misrepresentation I make no comment, but I can say that, similar to its erection, its removal would not involve the Port of Tyne authority.
a lot of investigatin there like suppose its better than a b8stard fine lol
[QUOTE=Lowrider;164734]Good post but if i fished there i would be getting the signs removed.
have a feeling the PTA might be getting them down, as they where supposed to be put up by them, which they didn't it was a resident and by using their name of the signs they could be in trouble. If anybody is up that way let me know if they ahve gone.
It's the same old story : ignorant, lazy ba.....s fouling our fishing areas and getting us ALL a bad name.
Divvint kid yourselves that it's a tiny minority who are guilty of these mindless acts, there's thousands of them on every pier, beach, estuary and river bank.
A minority, maybe, but a SIGNIFICANT minority who have been instrumental in the past of getting access denied to many productive fshing marks.
I'm aald enough to remember the old wharf at N.Shields (now called Northumbria Quay). There was free access in the seventies and the fishing was excellent untill one of these so called anglers decided to climb into the cab of the dockside crane for a 'dump', that marked the end of all angling activities from that venue.
It's now the progeny of these ba.....s : children and grandchildren who are perpetuating their 'filth culture'
I don't blame the residents of 'The Basin' for getting their backs up when faced with shameless toe-rags of that calibre.
We'll never change the situation. All we can do is hope for the best and do our utmost to tidy up after the tossers.
