it would be so much easier to have a sign saying please use the bins near by to dispose of any rubbish.

i totally agree with the 'you brought it here so take it away' phrase.

as for the leaving hooks and traces about, the guys should be hung with said traces by the balls. That really is a joke!

used bait can be tossed into the river, anything else just needs to go in a placky bag and dumped in the nearest bin, it dosnt mean you have to take it home with you.

there is always a small minority that spoil it for the rest of us.

Agree With you totally boblydon, But unfortunatly it is some of the so called proper anglers that leave their mess lying around, i have seen some of the well known anglers throwing litter and old line away (Won't mention who). Why cant every one just take a bag with them and dispose of their rubbish in the bin. The last time i fished the mull of galloway there was all kinds if sh*t wedged in the rocks from so called anglers.

TIP:- all you anglers with the Betta type seat box will find the small oblong sections moulded in the lid make great storage for plastic bags for all your Rubbish!

I agree with all the messages about simply being a good neighbour and not leaving the place a mess.
But my daughters mate lives with her boyfriend in that area and some of the other residents object to anglers simply as they feel it is not the "right thing" for their area.
So there will always be people who will object whatever .
Of course giving them reasons to canvass the port for a ban ain't the best idea.

I think we have a similar situation in the wear but cannot confirm it,down at roker marina there is a mark many will know as the cormorant as you walk on there is a sign saying stictly no fishing access only, the sign does not look vey official and the place itself is just a small railed promonade which juts out into the rivermouth,i have never been asked to leave but i know other peope who have been asked to leave by a gentleman who works in the marina who says that residents have complained and he will phone the police if they did not move.Has any body else been challenged when fishing this mark and is it actually illegal to fish,i know local comps do not allow you to fish there.

To be honest i a few years time if the plans for re-development for Blyth quay go ahead i am expecting something like that to happen along there.
Seems some people forget they only bought a bit of property and not the whole river

I fish the walkway at shields a lot so I can see and appreciate both sides of this argument.
If people choose to buy a property where anglers have a right to fish then they can't really complain about people fishing. BUT If people buy a property and then find that they have so called anglers creating mess, urinating or worse against their wall or generally causing a disturbance at all hours then IMO they have every right to complain.
The best that we as anglers can do is to treat residents and the areas that they live in with respect. Don't give them grounds to try and get fishing stopped, don't park inconsiderately and tidy up and they will just have to carry on tolerating us.

well said, it's a shame all anglers dont do it, the majority probally do, but it's the way of life the minority ( scumbags ) spoil it for the decent folk
