i use a carp rod mate, anything from 10ft over.
i prefer 12ft carp rod, its can cast weights under 1oz up to around 3ozs

2 hook flapper, small hooks size2 down over.
rag and a small strip of makerel

small lob around 30yds, you want the lead to be rolling a wee bit, not too much in the tide.

every few mins, just reel in a wee bit or drag the lead towards you to give the bait some attraction. you will feel the flatties rattle the rod. i tend not to strike on the first few rattles as they normally nipp the makerel and worm tail before they take the hook.

i use a light spinning reel / carp reel with 15lb line.

just keep changing your leads to follow the tide run.

    big bags of flatties

thats all im going to tell you

I use 2 spinning rods for flatties, cast 2oz weights usually and use a plain lead so it can move around in the current.
