  • Penn Fathom 15 or daiwa saltist 20

Just after your thoughts on the above. I'm in the market for a similar style reel, both seem to get good feedback, with the penn £40 cheaper than the saltist bg.

Before i commit, which one would you guys recommend?

      I have both,a fth12 n a bg30,both very well made reels n cast great.
For me the diawa has the edge,it's just "made"that bit better, infact the build quality is xcellent, great winching pwr too

Yea agree with hunter fathoms cast better, however build quality and winching power the saltist wins hands down.

I've never used a fathom yet, but I've got a b+g saltist 20, and I love it, quality piece of gear. Don't think I'd use it for trying to cast maximum distance but it casts far enough for most fishing.

Fathom all day long as it holds more line and to me is a great winching reel only bettered slightly by a torque.and they cast great esp when magged.

Get a second originakl 525 mag to go with your other one (always get pairs of reels!) and your sorted. If not get a couple of penn TRQ 15's magged up. I will let you take mine outs sometime to play with.
