Hello mate...hard to get hold of. I had a spear and jackson never bend for 20 years till it gave up I got another the same but the quality had gone (I reckon made in china) it snapped after 4 or 5 digs. I got another one from b and q it's a wilkinson sword, lifetime guarantee (20 quid). It's not too bad but the shaft is thick above the prongs so it doesn't push in too easy.
I got new shafts for the spear and jacksons but to be honest they're not too clever and I wouldn't trust them. My mate picked me up a good gripe up on the car boot 3 quid but that snapped as well. so if anyone knows where I can get good quality hardwood shafts I'd be interested...Cheers

Hi 'scaley',
Try Green's of Morpeth (beside the railway station). I bought a flat tinned fork there a couple of years ago (cost about £20.00 then). Don't know if they still sell them, but they are brilliant for digging lugworm. The tines are very flat; however I don't think the shafts are the strongest - although mine has lasted over two years so far, but I don't but excessive force on it when I'm digging. Don't know where you live, but if Morpeth is a fair way from you, then why not ring them to see if they have them in stock. Sorry I haven't got their number, but they will probabaly be under 'country clothing and stockist' or something like that as they mainly deal with outdoor clothing and footwear for walking etc.
Hope this helps................BAZACODBASHA

Thought for the day:
Some people are like slinkies - not really good for anything but bring a smile to your face when thrown down the stairs
Converting an MFV Fifie trawler type thing.
