  • Worn Spigot!

Very worn spigot only a few mm left!
I am wondering how I can build my spigot up.
Stan(Fishfingers) mentioned on a earlier thread about using super glue.
    Not sure what to do!
Any advice as this is my main rod. It got jammed the other night and I had to wiggle it to get it apart.

Clean and degrease spigot put on a latex glove really tight fitting 1 then get some supet glue only a small amount and quickly spread over the whole of the spigot levelling it out remember very thin coat let dry for a couple of days then try it if it needs anothet coat lightly abraid the previos coat the reapply a second coat just keep tepeating thr process although 2 coats is generally suffice any high spots can be rubbed out with 1000grit wet and dry really does work same as the car paint done quie a few and still going syrpng the secret is to noy rush it let iy fully cure impatience will ruin it

            Cheers Stan!
I might give it a try.
It's on a Nemesis Plus you built, that I bought second hand a year or so ago.
Also I was fishing next to a bloke last night who had a rod he had rebuilt by you
            as well.
You must have done quite a few over the years!

I had the same problem on one of mine, just bottomed out.
Tried candle wax and it works a treat, just rub it all over the spigot.
You may need to rub candle wax on again every few months but so what.

Preston Innovations Joint Care - the paint on rather than the spray on - is very good. Used to use it on my poles when I was into freshwater match fishing

Just bought some spray on Prestons Joint Restorer from Ted Carters.
I use candle wax on my fly rods to stop them coming apart but wasn't sure it would work that well on a badly worn spigot.
Anyway, I now have plenty of options to try!
Thanks for all the replies lads!!

That should work Ray, mask off above the spigot and plenty of thin coats I reckon
