What an absolute barsteward of bad luck. Its unbelievable. I only ever nearly lost one rod and reel and thats when a big fish nearly pulled it overboard from the heugh years ago. I can still see the rod lurching up before a guy grabbed it.
Personally i would,nt give in-expense is going through a divorce. Had that one 20 years ago.
Smashing up a motor bike on holiday-£500 bill-happened last year.
I could go on--- check flea bay there will be some gear on there which will see you out.
At least you are in one piece.
And you could even contact the docks authority-they will have the name of the ship-write-or e-mail them - you never know until you try.

        Mick.

                near miss

had a near miss there last week early one morning. i turned up after night shift for a few hours to get rid of some bait. im down on my own until a chap turns up. we notice a cobble fishing boat coming out of the harbour, it comes right close in past the round end we notice its called "lilly of the vlley". big bright orange tawp on it. this chap tells me he is notorious for taking lads lines off the end cos he comes in so close. well, he starts dropping pots just off the neck end on a long rope, well within reach of canny casters. i forget about what this chap has just told me, he toddles off and i pour meself a cuppa to wake melf up. when i stand up and turn round theirs me rod bouncing around and the butts just start lifting off the ground. i manage to put me hand on it just before the line parts as its ripped off on his hull. the effing boat had come within about 50 yards of the round end. nearly lost the lot. so beware of boats like "LILLY OF THE VALLEY".
