  • Beginners luck!!!

    Or lack of it!!
After a good night at Whitley bay beach in front of cafe on Tue, I tried again tonight with my new rod Leeda M Sport , and new waders.
Fished from 4:30 with a mate.
To cut a LONG story short this is basically what happened.
2nd cast , snagged and lost rig, 3 cast snagged and lost the lot, half hr later, my mate caught a decent 34 cm cod. Me , I managed to break the spool on the reel trying to reel in , snapped clean in two on spool. So replaced reel with a spare reel ( waiting on my new Shimano and still practicing with a multi)
Next cast out and tip light flew off!!!
All the while the guys fishing 100 yds away we're reeling in cod for fun!!

Started to rain at 9 so gave it up as a bad job hoping all my bad luck has came tonight!!
On a plus - new Ocean chest waders, brilliant, new rod , very happy.. Am I despondent- certainly not, I'm loving fishing and at 50 have learnt that,Crap happens, deal with it and I'll be back out tom night.
Congratulations to the lads who seemed to catch bucket fulls , my turn tomorrow night

Go over and ask them for advice. Anglers are generally friendly. The difference between catching and blanking is often just local knowledge. Good luck.

Hi Mozza, You sound just like me lol. I never get dispondant either ,just love being out. I look at it this way' somewhere out there there is a nice big fat daft cod just waiting for our bait . So until that time comes we just keep enjoying our fishing and keep learning . Tight lines and good luck
