just a bit off topic, once stayed with the Stephenson Family at Ballantray, Struan was a canny bloke then, loved his fishing and diving so we have got the right bloke doing the job.

Every angler should at the very least, should click on the link or go to
Petition to: resist the proposed changes from the EU in relation to Recreational Sea Angling (RSA). | Number10.gov.uk and pop your e/mail addy on, get an instant reply, click on that and bingo, just think of it as giving a MEP a boot up the bum.

Over the past few years, i have, along with countless other anglers, petitioned DEFRA, lots of politicians, the Prime Minister etc.

Its our sport, lets fight for it. DO IT

Sent my e-mail off this afternoon when I first seen it on the WSF Scottish forum

This is the reply I got within an hour -

                      Dear Mr. Stephenson,

Thanks for your email. I agree with you entirely about Article 47 of the Council Regulation on control systems for compliance with the CFP which will be discussed in the Fisheries Committee of the European Parliament in January. While I and my Conservative colleagues support moves to ensure vigorous compliance with measures which seek to protect and conserve fish stocks, we are deeply concerned at the proposal contained in Article 47 of the Regulation, which will effectively bring recreational fisheries under the direct control of the CFP.

The Proposal would require millions of recreational anglers throughout the EU to apply for special licences and log and register their catches, where they are fishing for species covered by a multi-annual recovery plan. Member States would have to allocate a quota for recreational anglers and this would be deducted from their national quota. Recreational anglers would be prohibited from selling any fish they catch.

Together with my Conservative MEP, we believe these proposals are draconian and unworkable and would impose a level of bureaucratic interference into sport fishing that would have a disastrous impact on the tourist sector, without providing any meaningful benefits to conservation. We will seek to remove recreational fisheries from the context of the proposed regulation.

                      I hope this reassures you.

                      Best wishes,

                      Struan Stevenson

email sent but I don't see any point in petitioning No10, as our elected parasites don't have a say in the matter the EU parliament is our real masters anyway. (besides if 1.9 million signatories opposing pay as you drive vehicle charges can be brushed off the e-petition has no worth what-so-ever, also worth considering Petition No10 isn't even a secure site)

Have also posted the WSF post on front page of NEAnglers (a site I run) every little helps.

I've posted on another site about this issue, and posted it on all the area sub-forums. I then got a pm from a mod telling me I was breaking the rules, and if I attempted to do it again, I'd be banned

I couldn't believe it, an issue that concerns every member of every sea angling forum, and they say that!

                                I sent this...

Could you, the mods, not create a post regarding this issue and sticky it?

Its an issue that would effect EVERY member of this forum, and as such, everyone should be aware of it. I can't believe that this hasn't been put on every sub-forum on here.
                                And got this reply...

There has already been a considerable amount of discussion on this in the Conservation and Politics Forum as well as most of the other forums. I dont think anything would be gained by doing what you suggest.
For the sake of 9 posts, on each regional sub-forum.
