  • good place to fish

does anybody know a good beach which can produce some codling and doesnt have many snags and which is ideal for a young angler to fish which is between st marys lighthouse and north shields.

any help would be much appreciated

i know its past st marys lighthouse, but i would say blyth pier is as good as any, as its safe, and dont need to cast far off the pier, and it should fish with these southerlies at the minute

You have Tynemouth beach and Whitley beach but to be honest even the top anglers would struggle for even a bite at the moment! The fish are not exactly jumping up the rod and its the worst winter I can remember especially considering we have had some decent conditions.

I remember when i was a kid fishing from the prom below the clock infront of the rex hotel at whitley over high water, provided there is a bit movement its maybe worth a go. Steer clear on a Sat night unless you fancy a beer bottle on your head!

Probably best to head for the tyne at the moment though or try up north on the surf beaches for flats.

There is a bit of movement but by sat its forcast none. If yr looking for clean beaches the south end of w/bay beach just down from the slope and tynemouths south end as well. I think yr limiting yrself to better shots though and blyth would be the better beach to try esp this time of year with lugworm. You dont need to cast far at all which is a mistake people make. The Pier is also worth as shot tonight or tomorrow but i wouldnt fish it on sat cos it will have died off. Then again i think we're wasting are time until that seas huge! Personally, as well, i would go to the river but not at the fish quay....and i never fish the river! But i'm desperate.
