  • Herd sands were to fish ?

Going to fish Herd sands tomorrow, small beach between SSP and the Gryone, but never have before. Which is the best location on the beach please ?

    Hi Terry,

I've fished it a few times and I always done better in the middle of the beach. If you fish too close to groyne there can be a lack of tide run. There is an old runway (some wooden stakes) I would fish about 50 yards left of that.

You can fish off the start of shields pier casting onto herd sands mate. It's right next to your car and you can put your bait a decent distance out as all you need to do is walk a bit further alon the pier!! Lol. I've found it fishing better when its too rough to get alonng the pier. Night time best but flatties and stuff about during the day in flatter conditions. Not somewhere I've spend a lot of time though to be honest. Plenty lads on here will probs give you a better heads up though.... Tight lines
