  • rod Building!

    For the last few weeks i`ve found myself getting more into building rods,actually more into it than fishing at the moment.Dont know what it is but i really enjoy it,been trying allsort`s of different couloured whippings as well as other choices of guides,which has to me given a complete different action to the rod.Think at the moment it`s my favourite hobby/pastime(went through some phases over the years including golf and playing drums lol).Have done a couple of rod`s for mate`s and they were happy with them.So i was chuffed too,nice to see someone fishing with a rod i built up for them.Looking back wished i had tried it before leaving school,and possibly took it on as a career (unemployed brickie at the moment).Well thanks for reading all,just thought i`d share my new found love beside`s fishing,cheers.

      If you're getting into rod building have a look on this site Jordy.

      Rodbuilding.org :: rodboard

      I've been having a bit go with it on and off, for a few years now and just starting to get the hang of doing the patterned work (takes ages though). Gives you something to aim for when you see what some people can do with just thread.

          it can be supprising how much a rods action can be changed with different rings and or whipping

          not an easy job either, or not if you want a decent job with loads of fancy whipping, congrats on having the patience to go through with it, dunno bout it being a viable career though

                    Fascinating part of fishing, there's amazing work out there. I enjoy some of the cane rod building forums, lads and lasses are making superb rods, with home made kit - superb examples of British craftsmanship. All power to your elbows.
