Hello mate, you could try Derwenthaugh Mariner which is just before Scotswwod Bridge.
Best way to it is to head for the Holiday Express Inn just along from the Metrocentre, Dunston and park at the rear of the Persimmon Offices then walk across the railway lines and you will see the wooden jetty.
I prefer to fish near to the metal bollard near the far end of the jetty and have caught some decent flatties from there day and night. Due to the cold weather I believe this is best fished at a high tide.
If you fish at the beginning of the jetty beware of snags as I believe there is a car sunk near there but everywhere else is fine.
It is an excellent summer mark and my best is 10 all over 30cms in 4 hrs.
      Enjoy.
PS rag tipped with mackerel is their favourite.

If its flattys your after, fishing next to the golden lion pub or at claxheugh in South Hylton is generally a pretty good shout, other than that the glass center can produce plaice and flounder with the odd bonus codling. Both marks are best fished with a rag and fish cocktail. When fishing South Hylton i usually add a few beads and sequins to the hook length, ive fished down there for years as i live 2 mins away and the beads seem to help pick out the bigger ones.

        Welcome to NESA aswel m8.

Ive never noticed a great difference in fishing the flood or the ebb at South Hylton, i usually try to fish the last 2 hours before high tide.

if you want the better flounders in the upper wear, fish clauxheugh (where the rowing club is based) fish as far up river as the railed section allows, fish last 3 hours flood/i ebb, this time of year fish 1 up/1 down rigs size 2 hooks
with lugworm tipped with whites, mackerel or razor, prawn can also catch on its day, fish as little a lead as you can get away with, so it just moves round with the flood, won a load of matches using this method with a best fish of 2lb 14oz,keep a eye on the rain if the rivers runing brown forget it...good luck

I fished Cresswell beach yesterday from low water up for a couple of hours and landed 3 decent flounders all over 3/4 lb.
