If you can, try and be patient as they pop up on here and elsewhere all the time for a lot less than the retail price...Penn 525s and Daiwa Sloshes have all gone for that price...stick something in the "Wanted" bit...someone will prob answer your call

Okumas are an alternative but IMO they are very cumbersome...and the size 30 one that I've got hardly gets touched these days

for ease of use you can't go wrong with a slosh 20, that said I'm now starting to fall in love with my 525 ...at the end of the day it's down to what you can afford or are willing to spend

          slosh 30

It is a cracking reel but you might struggle using one if you have small hands, the spool sits well up off the rod and it can be quite hard to get your thumb over enough to stop the spool from slipping mid cast, expecially when it's -4 degrees

You're more than welcome to try mine if you like, then you'll know for sure if it's the reel for you.

I also found with my sl30sh that it is a lot bigger than say a 525, it can cause problems if your trying to power cast. However the sl30sh would crank the titanic back up and they are almost indestructible, so for those reasons they are great for rough ground. However for clean to mixed ground I'd try and get a 525 mag, might struggle to find one for £40 mind whereas there should be plenty of sl30shs for £40.

depending how much the reel means to you and how condifent you are that its not bound its self to the metal try a couple of taps with a impact driver (not my fault if it cracks the threads) i got a bolt on my bike that spins free but wont come off cause of my "impact" treatment lol was supposed to hacksaw it off months ago lol

better of using some 'easy outs', they drill into the head of a bolt or screw and cut a reverse thread, once they've locked in they remove the bolt no problem with no damage to anything exept the bolt itself.

I have quite small hands and I have no problem power casting with the slosh 30. One of the best reels ever made....fact

I got mine on ebay last year for 28 quid!!

Sounds like it could be the anti-reverse, see here:

Make sure you have the star drag tightened up as well.
