  • Amble Open

Heard that about 450 fished the Amble open yest and there was only 26 codling weighed in! Thats a shocking statistic! I feel like chuking my gear in after collecting top quality bait. The fishing at the moment is dire to say the least! Is it worth it anymore to put the effort in?!

I was going to fish it...but figured it'd be easier and cheaper to blank closer to home

it's pants out there at the minute - the odd one getting caught but usually to those who've put in the hard graft
      Ooh a new vid!

I'll put the full results up when I've got them to hand.
It was won by a junior angler with a good bag of flatties.
Heaviest cod was over 7 lb.

I didn't stay for the whole presentation, but have to say big congratulations to the junior who won it (sorry, can't remember his name!) with about 10lb of flatties - well done on whupping 400 plus anglers!! I think he also had the heaviest flattie of the day.

Had a very poor day myself (fished the Doctors House) & wouldn't have gone back but for me mate getting a canny flattie last cast. Seemed like very few codling weighed in - lots of buckets of flatties though in the queue.

Well done to all who got something - also seemed like a very good turnout - and thank you to the organizers: very well run event & the opportunity for a burger & pint at the end is always welcome on a cold day!!

It was Matthew Holdroyd with ten flounders for 10-12-4, unfortunately I was unable to get to the weigh in, so up to now that is all I know.

Well done to Matthew Holroyd. He's got a good track record with the flatties.

Shouldn't be long getting the results up lads.

The young'un had the 2nd heaviest flattie on the day, only half an ounce or so off the heaviest !

A very good thing from our point of view was that all but a small handful of flatties went back alive. Well done everyone for taking care with their fish.

he's not bad with the codling either, he was second in the Newbiggin Open a few years ago with a good bag of codling. He's also a dab hand at fly fishing as well.

He was fishing on Warkworth Beach
