Whitley Festival is being re-arranged due to the Seaham Open being on the same day (26 Oct). No date yet, but it'll be on a smaller scale (more like the Night Open) and cash prizes only. I'll be putting details up for the Night Open in the next couple of days - the Festival may well be in the new year.

Cheers for that Gary.General consensus amongst regular match anglers I speak to now is that they are sick of the large boundaries in opens now so a return to the smaller boundaries will be a welcome change.
Tynemouth-/beadnell etc is just far too big in my opinion also and is the reason a lot won't fish them now

Yep, that's been the general consensus - everyone seems to be sick of these far-as-you-can-go-on-a-tank-of-petrol boundaries, which many think also aids the would-be cheaters, and seem to discourage many from fishing. It'll be much more local boundaries and we're putting Heaviest Bag & Heaviest Fish prize money the same for the Night Open (£250 each) plus supporting cash prizes to 10th place (with one prize per angler, so those who want to try for the biggun's can feel just as rewarded as those who like to bag up. We'll probably do much the same for the Festival too.

We'll never see the return to a thousand anglers fishing between Tynemouth & Blyth, but would rather run a smaller, local competition where those fishing feel like they're in with a chance whatever they want to fish for. Boundaries for the Night Time comp will be from Tynemouth Pier (excl. pier) to Lynemouth Pipe, and I think the Festival may well be the same.
