  • low newton, craster etc, advice on gear

Would appreciate some advice on buying some new gear for fishing in this area. I currently use a diawa moonraker and a abu 6500 (which needs attention!), I spend quite a bit of time in this area and plan to do more fishing up there and also get out round the whitley bay area.
Budget wise I'm quite limited, hoping for under £150 for both rod and real..
I've read old reports about the ron thompson accelarator - is this rod still available or is there a better ron thompson / other below £80?
And I'm looking at the Diawa slosh 30 or any other under £70.
Thanks in advance for any info, been out er touch for a while!

Not sure about ron thompson rods never used on but use a Diawa slosh 30 all the time never had any problems with it and it cast very smooth.

Don't know if they still have any left but Frazers in Whitley Bay and the Axcellerator in for around £75 plus you get 10% discount being on NESA. I would also highly recommend the slosh 30 or penn 535 reels.

Hi mate, yeah, Frasers in Whitley did have 2 RT Ax rods in their sale for £69.99 - don't know if they're still there! Couple one of them up with an SL30 & you'll be able to cope with just about anything / anywhere around here.

They ain't open Friday, but are on Saturday - hope you find something.
